Fountain Pen Ink

Find Out If You’re Actually Using The Right Fountain Pen Ink

In this article you will learn all about fountain pen ink and how they work and you will also discover a few neat tips that will save you money and make your fountain pen last much longer.

Fountain pen ink is usually made of dyes, pigments, and water, they dyes are added to change the color of the inks, so you can now get colors such as black, blue, red, green, pink and basically any other color of ink.

The fountain pen companies usually give you their ink when you get their pens but a few other fountain pen companies actually rebrand ink as not all of them manufacture it. The better and more quality the ink is the more then pen will last and is easier to maintain the nib, good ink will not corrode the nib and will produce smooth and silky writing every time.

Most manufactures will look at making the dyes dry fast, as this allows the in ink to flow freely to the nib. A few problems that come with quick drying is that the ink dries up when the lid is off the pen or off the bottle, this is because some inks contains drying agents.

There are a 2 different types of ink that you can buy which are ink cartridges or ink bottles which is basically an ink converter. Its best to use the ink bottles as when filling up the pens it actually helps to keep the ink flowing smoothly. Although the ink cartridges are quick and easy to use, you just insert them into the fountain pens and you’re ready to rock and roll.

Ink bottles will save you loads of money as a typical ink bottle will cost around $10 where as a few ink cartridges will cost around $5-$10 but you will get much less use with them.

Not only that but the bottles will help to keep your pen running smoothly and so will outlive the pen with the ink cartridges.
